Mini Mission

Every year our ward does the most wonderful thing...the young men and young women go on "mini missions." Ward members are chosen to be Mission Presidents and also sign up to have the "missionaries" in their homes for lessons. Jared was asked to be a "mission president" this year. He also was asked two years ago, when we became the California, Ventura Mission Home (where Jared served his mission). After our last experience we were excited to do it again. This time we were the Sweden, Malmo Mission (I visited Sweden for an extended period after graduation High School). It was so much fun! We met at the MTC (church building) where the kids got their calls and said good bye to their parents (even though they were not emotional, it made me think of saying good bye to Tyson - I miss him). They spent the night at our house (the mission home) and we woke them at 6:30 for their personal and companion study. Jared made a very yummy breakfast and they ate like young missionaries do... it was great! The missionaries learned through The Book of Mormon to answer "The Questions of the Soul" (listed in Preach My Gospel Handbook) and how to teach members to get referrals. They then went to 3 different homes in the neighborhood to teach those lessons. It was such a wonderful spirit to see our Young Men and Young Women in the church clothes walking in pairs through out the neighborhood. We were just amazed at how well behaved and respectful the boys were. They were not rowdy or loud, they were just wonderful! We really felt a great connection to them and had such a spiritual experience being involved. Thanks to the Missionary Committee, Young Men and Young Women Leaders who put such a great effort in planing this!

Welcome to the World of iTunes

So Jared and I bought our first iPod last week. It is a 80GB Video iPod and WE LOVE IT! It looks exactly like the one in the photo... no we don't have a penguin, even though Emma would love it! We are still figuring out all the fun things you can do with it. So far we have downloaded The Book of Mormon on to it and a ton of music that we had, along with music from a few friend's iPods. It is amazing! We have already decided to get another, because we don't want to share! Hahaha! Our original reason for getting it was so we didn't have to bring a portable DVD player for Emma on the flight to Alaska in July. But more then anything, it was just time for us to move into the world of MP3s and iPods.

No, I Am Not Joking!

It is April 24th and this is a photo taking from my back porch. Yes, the back yards are small, but stay with me here! Look closer - nope, it isn't my camera lens, IT IS SNOWING!!! I will say, so this doesn't get over exaggerated, nothing stuck on the ground and it only lasted about an hour, but still, IT'S ALMOST MAY!!! Luckily we didn't plant our garden this last weekend. But, my tulips our coming up, are they going to die?

Little Blessings

Yes, I do think Carson is a little blessing in our family and in our lives. But, that is not the "little blessing" I am talking about in this photo. LOOK! He is holding his bottle!!! He doesn't do it all the time, but he is doing it more and more now-a-days. I love it! This picture was a great little blessing because Emma needed her diaper changed (BAD) and Carson was hungry. Neither one of them wanted (or could, in the case of Emma, because she was smelling all of us out) to be put off another second. So I made the bottle, put him in his swing and did the diaper - Ta-Da!!! I am an amazing multi-tasker (as Jared will call me, when I tell him).

He is getting so big, I can't believe he is doing little tricks already. He also, in the last few weeks, has started to put his arms up when Jared or I walk in the room. He wants us to pick him up. He sometimes adds a "hoo hoo" and a smile to get our attention. I love it, he is really an awesome little boy and our little blessing!

Husband 1.0

I got this in an email and thought it was so funny!

Dear Tech support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then installed undesirable programs such as NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?

Signed,
Desperate

DEAR DESPERATE,

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.) Also do not attempt to reinstall Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck,
Tech Support

Ready, Set, Blog!

Okay, well I think there is something in the air because blogging is everywhere and I need to try it out. I do not promise anything big, but we'll see how it goes. There is so much to do with this, so many options and things to try out, I might need help! Wish me luck!
