Mini Mission

Every year our ward does the most wonderful thing...the young men and young women go on "mini missions." Ward members are chosen to be Mission Presidents and also sign up to have the "missionaries" in their homes for lessons. Jared was asked to be a "mission president" this year. He also was asked two years ago, when we became the California, Ventura Mission Home (where Jared served his mission). After our last experience we were excited to do it again. This time we were the Sweden, Malmo Mission (I visited Sweden for an extended period after graduation High School). It was so much fun! We met at the MTC (church building) where the kids got their calls and said good bye to their parents (even though they were not emotional, it made me think of saying good bye to Tyson - I miss him). They spent the night at our house (the mission home) and we woke them at 6:30 for their personal and companion study. Jared made a very yummy breakfast and they ate like young missionaries do... it was great! The missionaries learned through The Book of Mormon to answer "The Questions of the Soul" (listed in Preach My Gospel Handbook) and how to teach members to get referrals. They then went to 3 different homes in the neighborhood to teach those lessons. It was such a wonderful spirit to see our Young Men and Young Women in the church clothes walking in pairs through out the neighborhood. We were just amazed at how well behaved and respectful the boys were. They were not rowdy or loud, they were just wonderful! We really felt a great connection to them and had such a spiritual experience being involved. Thanks to the Missionary Committee, Young Men and Young Women Leaders who put such a great effort in planing this!
