our temporary pet

we are dog sitting for our neighbors while they are in Hawaii.  this is their dog, his name is Jimmer.  he is a very sweet, well mannered dog, he loves the kids, and most of all loves me.  he follows me wherever i go and is always a willing buddy to sit next to.  some funny things about his visit are - when they brought him, the also brought his cage, which he slept in the first few nights, after that he decided he would rather not and has started to refuse to go in... so now he sleeps with us at the foot of our bed.  they also said he doesn't go on the sofa.. well the kids favorite thing to do is sit on the couch and call him up to cuddle.  we may have ruined their dog.  :)   either way, we are very happy to have him and will be quite sad when his family gets back. 

last ski of the season

Yesterday Jared and I went night skiing.  It is nearing the end of March and we knew it would probably be the last time, but we wanted to test out my skis since they had a little tune up.  Tyson, Tim and Dave joined us for the fun.  Even though we had about 2 inches of snow fall in the valley, the slopes were still pretty icy.   We still had lots of fun, I got a few pointers and finally went on a blue run.  We went all together twice, it was a little scary, but really fun.  To finish the night I enjoyed some yummy chili from the Creekside Cafe, my favorite chili ever. It was a good day!

Russian Roulette

This is one of Jared's favorite things that i do.  It makes him smile everytime he gets in the car and notices that i am low on gas.  (INSERT SARCASM HERE)

6 months old

today Dallin at 6 months old! He is a great part of our family! he's very cute, very funny and he loves to smile!  he has just recently started rolling over from his tummy to back, the kids were very excited!

Jared's new skis!

our 10 year anniversary is coming up and to celebrate jared and I are getting new skis!  We're very excited! Here's a picture of Jared's,  I just went and bought them!

Buddies

I got home from the gym to find these two guys asleep in my bed.  I don't know if you can tell from the picture but Dallin is holding on to Jared's shirt.  I love how much the kids love their Dad.  :)

We missed her...so we are going back!  

We booked our trip tonight and I am so excited for our reunion with Mickey and Minnie!

Growing up!

I just registered Carson for kindergarten!  Can you believe it, he is going to school!?  I know he is ready, i know he will love it, but suddenly all the feelings i had when Emma went are all coming back!  What if he doesn't make good friends, what if they are mean to him, what if he doesn't like his teacher, what if he gets homesick and the worst thought/realization of all... there is no going back to him being little... and that i hate!

Cousin Sleep Over

Tonight David and Abby are spending the night.  We met Liz halfway for lunch and pick up the kids were so excited and couldn't wait to start the fun!  This afternoon they have played a variety of games downstairs.  They also went for a treasure hunt in the snow... i would hide small toy and they would search for it.  A big hit if
i do say so myself!  tonight pizza dinner, redbox, popcorn and hot cocoa.  for the finale all the kids get to sleep together on Harry and Carsons bunk beds, they are so excited!  i will post more pics through out the night. 

New Toy

Dallin is getting bigger and is wanting to be entertained more and more.  So it was time to bring out the next round a fun toys.  He loves it and has no problem me letting him chill there for a few minutes.  I love the self entertainment phase.  :)

Valentine's Day

Today has been so fun.  with the help of Sherrie I decorated the house with hearts and "XOXO"  I love it!  This morning i made the kids a heart shaped breakfast - eggs, hashbrowns and sausage, all in the shape of a heart.  after the kids went to school I invited a few of my friends over for a hot chocolate and sweets party.  I made 2 different types of hot cocoa and some cute red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and a cute chocolate design on top. A few of the ladies brought other desserts like cookies, brownies and other flavors of cocoa. it was a blast!  tonight all of the kids are coming to my house for some fun with the sitters while we head over to Sherrie's for a yummy steak dinner.  can't wait!   HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!

Green smoothie breakfast

I saw this recipe on Pinterest and thought... why not!  So this morning we started off with some greens.  Emma and Harry loved it, with no hesitation about the color.  Carson was a little nervous about the green part, but ended up trying it anyway.  it was way good, fairly filling and nothing but good for! "Skinny" here i come!

I've been trying to do different recipes, at least 1 new every week.  tonight is turkey meatballs, I'm also making a gravy and we are serving it with potatoes... wish me luck.  :)

Emma's Organization Skills

we went to the library yesterday and immediately after coming home Emma put her books away and labeled their spots.  On the right it says "chapter books" and on the left it says "pikcher books".  I love her, she is a mini me.  :)

Another Little Sickie

 

After finding out that Dallin has RSV we started hearing Harry cough pretty hard and thought... uhh ohh, we better check this out.  We visited the doctor and found that he also has RSV.  So both boys are on antibiotics and medicated breathing treatments (which is what Harry is holding in the picture).  Dallin still has to go into the hospital twice a day to have a "bronchial suction" - which is something that Harry does not have to do.  They are both doing very well and regardless of how they feel are so nice and have not been grumpy.  We are grateful for their wonderful pediatrician and for the great respiratory therapist that treat Dallin everyday - they are all top rate!

Today was the 100th day of school and the first graders were invited to dress up like a 100 year old.  Thanks to Grandma T having this awesome costume, Emma was the cutest 100 yr old ever!  She was so excited to show off her outfit and spent most of the morning talking in an old women's voice.  It was very funny!

Little Sickie

Dallin has the third ear infection of his (so far) short life.  he has had a really bad cold and when i finally took him to the doctor he put him on a pretty strong antibiotic and sent him to the hospital to get bronchial suctioning and to check for Rsv.  poor little guy, we find out tomorrow what the lab says.  tonight i will pray for his sleep... we both could use it.  look at his sweet face, he is so nice, even when he doesn't feel good.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

We are having some serious snow fall yesterday and today.  Tuesday we got about 15 inches and Wednesday morning we got about 4-6 inches.  We can not keep our driveway clear at all!  The best news thigh us that the last few snowfalls have been fluffy "sledding" snow, but today is a little more we and us packing better, making it "snowman" snow... the kids are going to be so excited when they get home from school.  The pictures are of Harry right before he went out to play on the snow and Carson to show the snow line is at his knees. 

Coupon Day

I like to coupon.  I have done it of and on for a few years.  Here was this Tuesdays transaction (I covered the total so nobody judges me for my shopping).  :)  These were the bags that were left after putting away all the freezer and refrigerator food.  lots of loot!

Yummy

Jared's great aunt Carol Jean always has the best grapefruit at their Christmas breakfast, hers are my favorite.  She is actually the reason I started liking them, and now I crave them!  It's perfect because they are FREE on weight watchers, the little things are really exciting sometimes!  :)

My Girls

Since Loralee moved out of the neighborhood it had been a big change to have to schedule hang outs instead of just walking across the street anytime we wanted to hang out.  So in efforts to still get some hang out time we initiated "lunch bunch".  we let the kids play and we get to visit like old times and enjoy a yummy meal.   i love these girls, i am truly lucky to have such amazing best friends.

Sparring

Yesterday in Carson's karate class they had a sparring day.  Each kid is matched up and they try to get points by (lightly) hitting the other on the padded areas.  I was very nervous, but Carson thought it was awesome.  He was matched up with a kid bigger then him (maybe 7 or 8) and he still managed to get a point off of him!  He is having a great time in his class and is learning quickly. 

Dinner Guests

Tonight we had Grandma T, Big Grandpa and Uncle Tyson over for dinner.  The kids pretty much attacked them from the time they arrived until they left.  They were excited to play, wrestle, box and perform.  After dinner the kids put on a dance show for our "entertainment", they were hysterical.  We enjoyed our visitors and the kids enjoyed their spotlight time. 

Thanksgiving Point Adventure

Today we went to the Dino Museum with Cammie, Logan and Trevor.  The boys had lots of fun running around and playing in the sand pits.  We haven't been in a while, so the kids had a renewed excitement for everything, it was a lot of fun.  Thanks for the invite Cammie!

Itty Bitty Baseball

This week at Itty Bitty ball it was T ball! Harry has a good swing and a great pitching arm, he is making his Daddy proud! it's awesome to watch!  It is also nice because while he is playing I can go run the track with Dallin.  The ultimate multitask!

Karate Kid

For Carson's 5th birthday we did a karate party and one of his gifts was karate lessons.  So this month we signed him up for a class at the American Fork Rec Center.  He is learning all the punches and kicks and loves to practice at home.  Today he passed his first of 4 tests to be eligible for the yellow belt.  He was very proud.  My favorite is his meditation stance. 

Our Little Gymnast

Emma and her cute friend Annie recently started gymnastics at the American Fork Rec Center.  I am not sure I will plan any trips to the Olympics, but they are super cute and they love the class!  They are quickly learning cart-wheels, hand stands and today they started on the bars.  How fun!

Date night

This last Friday night Jared and I went out for a very simple but super fun date night.  We are trying to find date night activities that aren't just eating out.  The new year brought resolutions that involve more activity and less eating out. :) The Orem Rec center has a shooting range, so we thought we would try out a recent purchase (9mm) and go shooting.   Sherrie and Tim joined us and it was a blast - literally!  Afterwards we all got in work out close and took advantage of the Rec.  Tim has run a few half marathons before and so he, Sherrie and I ran the track so he could give me some running coaching.  Jared is not into running so he grabbed a bike and did his thing.  It was a fun, active, refreshing date night.  To top of the fun, I am actually a pretty good shot!  That bullseye was on my very first round! 

Carson's Eye Appt

At Carson's 5 year old check up he had a little trouble with the eye exam and our pediatrician suggested we see a pediatric ophthalmologist.  So today we went to his first eye appointment.  The doctor checked his eyes, dilated them and checked again, we looked at a lot of fun frames and had an okay time.  The doctor wants to see him back in a week to do a few more tests, I will update the blog when I find out what the outcome is.  But today we at least left the office with these fun glasses to help him while his eyes are dilated.  :)  he even shared them with Dallin.  :)
